Sony TV 2025

Sony has unveiled its 2025 TV lineup.

TVs from previous years will remain on sale in 2025. The Bravia 9, 8, 7, A90K, 3, and 77-inch QD-OLED A95L will be available.

Bravia 8 II: New QD-OLED Flagship

Experts consider it one of the best TVs with a QD-OLED screen.

Sony has already released the 55-inch and 65-inch models. For those who require a large screen, the firm will continue to produce the 77-inch A95L.

Sony Bravia 8 II Features

The Bravia 8 II features an advanced QD-OLED screen developed by Samsung Display. It’s the latest in display technology. The most obvious improvement is that it’s much brighter.

QD-OLED matrix in the Bravia 8 II TV set

At the demonstration in Tokyo, the TV produced a brightness of about 1600-1700 nits in small highlights. These figures enhance the picture in HDR mode, making it more vivid and realistic.

Sony chose QD-OLED technology over LG’s new screens because it offers better color accuracy in darker skin tones. These parameters are essential for watching movies and TV shows.

XR’s Triluminos Max technology enhances colors, making them brighter and more vibrant. The XR Contrast Booster 15 features a temperature sensor that monitors the brightness of every pixel. This way, you get those deep blacks without worrying about your screen getting burned.

We tested the Bravia 8 Mark II TV and compared its performance against the Samsung S95D and LG G4. The colors on the Bravia were remarkably true to life. In the brighter scenes, things looked much clearer and had less distortion. Here’s what the journalists who attended the new TV’s presentation said [1], [2].

The XR processor utilizes AI to enhance details such as foliage and skin tones in dark scenes through real-time analysis. In poorly lit scenes, this TV shows more detail than the A95L. The screen is glossy, but with an anti-glare coating.

Let’s take a look at LG’s 2025 lineup of TVs.

Other Features

Supported formats include Dolby Vision and IMAX Enhanced, but there is no HDR10+ format.

Two of the four HDMI ports are HDMI 2.1, supporting 4K at 120 frames per second.

One of these ports features eARC connectivity, specifically designed for use with soundbars. The lack of sufficient HDMI ports can be inconvenient if you connect multiple consoles.

If you’re into gaming, the Bravia 8 Mark II is fantastic! It has two HDMI 2.1 ports and a Dolby Vision Game Mode. These are great for the PlayStation 5. The response is quick, and VRR helps reduce jerkiness in fast scenes.

According to the manufacturers, the screen acts as a speaker thanks to Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology. Therefore, the sound originates directly from where the action is taking place.

Hear whispered conversations in noisy environments with Voice Zoom 3, which amplifies the volume and clarity of conversations.

Sony’s sleekest television, released in 2025, features the innovative Slim One Slate design. The screen and bezel merge into a single, thin panel measuring just 1.34 inches wide.

The Bravia 8 Mark II is for those who want bright OLED, and it’s not the most expensive TV this year. It will be a serious competitor to the Samsung S95F and the LG G5, both released this year. The Mini-LED Bravia 9 is likely the most expensive option.

On this page, let’s take a look at the Samsung TVs of 2025.

Sony Bravia 5: Mini-LED in the Middle Class

The Sony Bravia 5 is Sony’s first affordable mini-LED TV. It replaces the 2023 X90L and is available in 55- and 98-inch versions. The 98-inch version is Sony’s largest 2025 TV, a rarity for a mid-range model.

Bravia 5 Features

The Bravia 5 has Mini-LED backlighting and the XR Backlight Master Drive system. It offers six times more dimming zones than the X90L.

The 75-inch X90L features 96 dimming zones, while the Bravia 5 boasts an impressive 576 dimming zones. Many blackout zones enhance contrast and eliminate unnecessary backlighting around bright objects.

Sony rates the brightness at 1200 nits, less than the higher-end models, but still delivers a bright HDR picture.

An XR processor with artificial intelligence enhances the real-time picture. Equipped with XR Triluminos Pro, this device delivers vibrant colors. Additionally, it features XR Motion Clarity technology, ensuring exceptionally smooth motion. Plus, it features XR Contrast Booster 10 for better picture quality.

The screen features a shiny VA panel that enhances colors, but its viewing angles are not as good as those of an OLED. X-Wide Angle technology, as in Bravia 9, is not available here.

This technology turns off certain backlighting zones of an LED TV.

Dolby Vision, HDR10, HLG, and IMAX Enhanced are supported modes for various streaming services.

For gaming, there’s VRR, ALLM, and 4K at 120fps on two HDMI 2.1 ports, plus Dolby Vision Game Mode.

Acoustic Multi-Audio delivers sound with tweeters on the sides and X-Balanced speakers on the bottom. It supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and S-Force Front Surround and syncs with Sony soundbars through Acoustic Center Sync.

The sound quality is better than that of the X90L, but it falls short of the older models.

The Bravia 5 balances price and quality, boasting improved energy efficiency thanks to Mini-LED technology.

It is excellent for those seeking a vibrant image with clear contrast without the high price of models like the Bravia 7 or 9.

Consider the issues of choosing between QLED vs OLED, which is better.

Bravia 2 II: A Budget Option

The Sony Bravia 2 II is a new model in the budget segment lineup.

Sony was selling the first version of the Bravia 2 TV in India in 2024. Sony is bringing it to the US, Europe, and other markets to offer more affordable options.

The Bravia 2 II TV will be in diagonal sizes of 43, 50, 55, 65, and 75 inches.

The Bravia 2 II features a direct-lit LED screen.

The 4K X1 processor elevates picture quality to an impressive 4K resolution and enhances motion smoothness. However, it falls short of being an XR model, lacking the groundbreaking features present in its predecessors. Refresh rate is likely 60Hz, with no support for 120Hz.

It supports HDR10 and HLG, but details about Dolby Vision are not yet available.

Powered by Google TV with access to thousands of apps.

The Sony X85N will likely be the most affordable Sony TV of 2025, offering high-quality proprietary image processing.

The sound system features two 10W speakers, totaling 20W. It features some cool virtual effects for Atmos and DTS:X but doesn’t include a subwoofer. For everyday TV viewing, it’s enough.

Bravia 2 II – for those who want an inexpensive smart TV from Sony for basic needs.
