LG’s 2025 TVs: Big Changes to the OLED and QNED Lineup
LG’s 2025 TV lineup introduces redesigned OLED panels from LG Display with a fresh new look. This year, LG replaced its MLA (micro lens array) technology with a new dual-blue emission panel design.
The panel structure has been improved from three layers (3S4C) to four (4S4C). It now has a new Primary RGB Tandem design that increases brightness and efficiency.
LG OLED G5
Brightness Booster Ultimate technology makes the new models up to three times brighter than LG’s base “B” series, based on 10% window measurements. In FILMMAKER mode, peak brightness reaches 2400 nits. In other presets, it can climb as high as 3700 nits.
LG has significantly improved the automatic brightness limiter (ABL), allowing the G5 to sustain over 300 nits on a full-white screen—roughly 40% brighter than the G4. It also extends the color gamut well beyond the DCI-P3 standard.
The new panel expands the color gamut within the BT.2020 space, surpassing the typical 75% coverage seen in most OLEDs. Experts expect that switching to an RWBG pixel layout will enhance text sharpness and boost color accuracy.
The G5 features LG’s new Alpha 11 Gen2 processor, which integrates advanced AI algorithms and supports a 165Hz refresh rate.
It will be available in six sizes: 48″, 55″, 65″, 77″, 83″, and 97″. High-end features like increased brightness and 165Hz refresh rate are limited to the 55″, 65″, 77″, and 83″ models. The 48″ and 97″ versions use lower-brightness panels, with the 97″ also lacking 165Hz support.
LG has not yet announced pricing. Sales are expected to begin in the first half of 2025.

Other OLED TV Models
LG also revealed refreshed models in the mid-range OLED segment.
The OLED C5 remains LG’s top mainstream model, though it doesn’t feature the newer MLA technology introduced in 2023. The C4 offers improved brightness (up to 1000 nits) and greater color accuracy compared to the 2024 version. It features the updated Alpha 9 Gen 8 processor and supports a 165Hz refresh rate. The C5 will be available in a wide range of sizes, from 42 to 83 inches.
The 2025 lineup includes an updated B5 model that replaces the B4. A key upgrade is the addition of four HDMI 2.1 ports—ideal for gamers and next-gen consoles. The B5 will be available in sizes ranging from 48 to 83 inches and will feature an OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate.
An interesting addition is the M5, a wireless version of LG’s flagship G5. This premium model includes a wireless signal unit, but it comes with two limitations: it still requires a power outlet, and its wireless hub does not support a 165Hz refresh rate.
LG has officially discontinued its budget-friendly A-series lineup for 2025.
QNED Evo Lineup
Highlighted models include the QNED90, the massive 100-inch QNED89, and the QNED9M featuring LG’s Zero Connect technology.
LG’s LCD TVs have generally been less popular than its OLEDs, due to the use of low-contrast IPS panels. LG Display is expected to cease LCD TV panel production in March 2025 by selling its final factory to TCL CSOT.
Judging by the new 100-inch QNED89 and 85-inch QNED90, LG appears to be shifting toward new panel suppliers. The removal of quantum dots from its latest “QNED Evo” models supports this trend. In 2025, LG plans a full overhaul of its LCD TV lineup, rebranding the series under the new “QNED Evo” name.
The company has replaced traditional quantum dot (QLED) technology with a new Dynamic QNED Color Solution, although the exact details remain undisclosed.
Leading the QNED Evo lineup, the QNED90 features a modern miniLED backlight with local dimming. LG has not specified the number of dimming zones, but the technology is expected to enhance contrast and picture quality.
The QNED9M supports 4K at 144Hz via LG’s Zero Connect wireless module, though it drops miniLED backlighting. Meanwhile, the QNED99 with 8K resolution remains in the premium segment, confirming LG’s reserved approach to 8K adoption.
The 100-inch QNED89 is expected to feature a VA panel from BOE, delivering improved contrast compared to the previous 98-inch model using a TCL panel. The QNED85 will occupy the mid-range category with up to 86-inch screens and support for 144Hz—except for the smaller 50- and 55-inch versions, which won’t include that feature.
More affordable models like the QNED82 and QNED80 will offer standard LCD performance with QNED Evo branding and improved processing. All new QNED Evo models will run an updated version of webOS and include advanced AI-powered image enhancements.
Rounding out the lineup, LG will also introduce the UA7500 and UA7300—basic LCD models with 60Hz panels and the latest webOS 25 platform.

webOS 25 Improvements and LG’s New AI Remote
After years of customer feedback, LG has finally introduced a redesigned remote control. The main change is the switch from glossy plastic to a more premium matte finish.

Available in multiple sizes—find out which TV size works best for your room.
The new AI Magic Remote features a more streamlined design, although it still includes a few polarizing features—such as motion control and six dedicated sponsorship buttons.
LG has significantly redesigned the layout—removing buttons 1 through 9, repositioning volume controls, and eliminating the input selection button. The old voice control button has been replaced with a new AI button, marking the official renaming of the device to AI Magic Remote.
The webOS platform has also received a major upgrade with version 25. While it retains quick access to popular streaming services, it unfortunately still includes ads. Notably, webOS 25 will be available not only on 2025 TVs, but also on select 2024, 2023, 2022, and even some 2021 models.

New features include an AI-powered sound mode, improved voice search, and LG’s new Voice ID recognition technology.
Overall, LG’s 2025 TV lineup looks promising—especially the flagship OLED G5, which sets a new standard in brightness and design.
